Charmaine is Relaxed about Rumours

Charmaine Sheh took part in an interview at Cha Siu Yan's show on CRHK yesterday and spoke about the approaching TVB Anniversary Awards and all the gossip that has been stirred up around her battle for the Best Actress award against Myolie Wu. There have been reports recently that TVB is totally supporting Myolie and turning against Charmaine and the most recent reports suggest that she has been banging the desks and cursing the TVB executives for giving the award to Myolie. Asked about all the gossip, Myolie replied with a relaxed attitude and smiled: "The whole company against me? That is quite powerful, but I did not read the details so I am not sure."

Charmaine says it is no surprise that the press has been firing at her as a result of the contest between her and Myolie, but she adds graciously: "In my mind, Myolie, Ada Choi and Sheren Tang all have a good chance." As for the desk-banging, Charmaine asks in response: "Has the award already been presented? Why would I be so extreme?" As for the suggestion that TVB will try to keep everything sweet by introducing a new special award so they have one each, Charmaine says she does not know about a secret award, so she questions the truth behind the reports. However, Charmaine knows that the company does change its awards structure every year. So which award would she most like to win? Charmaine says that as long as she wins an award, she will be happy.

Yoyo Mung does not have to play Badminton with Ekin

Yoyo Mung has been busy with work recently and yesterday she was modelling for a footwear company, who presented her with three pairs of shoes. She says that she loves to wear leather boots and also high heels, but she once caught her heel in a gap when she was wearing heels and this was quite embarrassing. Usually when she goes out, Yoyo says that she dresses quite simply because she wants to return to being herself. Recently has she been buying more training shoes to play badminton in? She laughs that with the anniversary looming, she thinks there will be more opportunities to wear high heels.

Ekin Cheng has gone to Mainland China to film for a series and will be going to play tenpin bowling with Jordan instead. Yoyo says that she does not just have Ekin as a badminton partner and she can still play with Claire Yiu. When the reporters pointed out that it would be rude to disturb Claire after her marriage next month, Yoyo says that she has plenty of other good partners. She will be playing badminton with Chu Ling Ling for a forthcoming charity event and she says that the pressure is quite high. Asked if she will ask Ekin to be her partner, she says that this will be arranged by the company and she will not reply to theoretical questions. Asked if she will not continuing 'developing' [their relationship] with Ekin being away, she insisted on refusing to talk about her relationship.

Liza Wang is Pleased with her Career

TVB's musical concert production "Golden Songs of Our Century" will take place on 1st-4th November and TVB executive Virginia Lok joined Liza Wang at the press conference yesterday to reveal more details. Ms Lok indicated that as well as Liza, the other star-studded performers will include Adam Cheng, Teresa Cheung, Annabel Lui, Miriam Yeung, Kelly Chen, Andy Hui, Leo Ku, Denise Ho and Ng Wai Kwok.

Liza says that she is proud to have several classic songs in her career and she says that in the 1960's, she had already started learning to sing and as she did not have much natural talent, she had to work very hard to perfect her skill, following four different teachers. Her hard work did not go to waste and with her song "Brave Chinese People", she was recognised with an IFPI award and a 'Top Ten Chinese Song' award. With comments that the current wave of TV theme songs are not as good as they used to be, Liza says that maybe there are too many series now, so there is not as much opportunity for the new generation of creatives to improve.

TVB's Anniversary Series "To Grow With Love" (Lush Fields Happy Times) began airing on Monday and recorded ratings of 32 points and heading straight for the top of the charts for recent TVB productions. Liza says: "My series 'War of In Laws' gained 34 points when it first aired last year, so they did not beat my record!" Liza has promised Myolie that she will watch the series, so she will watch the recording as she was working on Monday.
