[The Sun 05/07/06]

Carol "Dodo" Cheng, Anna Yau and Kathy Chow will be hosting the Mr Hong Kong Contest on Saturday and yesterday they met the fourteen contestants, who introduced themselves and then struck a pose to show off their masculine prowess.

After taking two of the awards already, Number 4 Kelvin Leong Kwok Yin showed off his eight-pack to the MC, making Carol rather excited. She felt that the standard was very good and when she hosted the show last year, the atmosphere was great.Asked if this year's format will be the same as last year, she reveals that she only knows that aside from the first part, there will be a gradual elimination, so the whole competition will be quite exciting.

Carol was full of praise for Kelvin as she feels his muscles are amazing. Asked what she thought of Chan Yau's son, Number 7 Larry Chan Leung Wai, she said she had not seen him yet, so she does not know what he is like. When Kelvin and Larry were asked to be photographed with Carol later, Carol gave her opinion on Larry, saying frankly he needs to shed some pounds. She also finds Number 1 Francois Huynh and Number 13 Johnny Lam Kwan Meng not bad.

Kelvin was very happy when he heard about Carol's good words for him and he says that his most attractive feature is his eight-pack that he has taken a long time to work. Larry says that this is the first time he has met Carol. Does he feel he is at an advantage because he is a descendent of an artiste? He says he does not because he has also given out hard work and his father has told him to just do his best. Asked if his family will be there to support him on the night of the contest, he says that they will watch from home.

Taking part in the event for the first time, Kathy says she is very nervous because this is a new venture for her. As Kathy's younger sister Niki was one of the MC's for last year's competition, Kathy was asked if she would ask Niki for tips. She says that they have not discussed this.

Theresa Fu, Louisa So and Vanessa Yeung were the latest guests on "Beautiful Cooking", where Michael Miu and Hui Siu Hung were the judges. They held a special 'Dragon Beard Candy' making contest and when Theresa made her attempt, host Ronald Cheng laughed that this was her manager Paco Wong's head and his wild hair, causing a lot of laughter from the audience. When they moved on to cook "Sweet Sour and Hot Roasted Fish Lips", Louisa seemed to be possessed by a Kitchen God as she chopped the fish and the vegetables up like an expert. This left the hosts dumbfounded and Edmond Leung could do nothing but praise her. When the judges tasted her food, they all agreed that it was delicious, awarding her with 10 points all round, making Louisa the highest scoring contestant of the series. Although Louisa is a good cook, she says that she is afraid of toads, chickens, ducks, geese, crabs and fish - anything that is still moving. She also reveals that she has a bad childhood memory about chickens because she used to help her mother to slaughter chickens.

Theresa was suffering from gastroenteritis, so she was feeling rather weak after just eating congee. She was unable to chop the fish head. When Ronald told her to sniff her hand, she exclaimed that it smelled nice, so Edmond suggested that this is 'Fish Head Perfume', again creating more laughs. Finally, Theresa managed to chop the fish head with some help from Edmond.

Michael has expectations for food and he never eats innards, fishy smelling food and spring onion. When he was told that some of the girls on the show have produced raw food for the judges, Michael seemed a litlee worried, but he said he was full of confidence for Louisa, saying: "I am her fan and I often see her in the kitchen. She really is presentable in the kitchen and outside. Asked how his wife Jamie Chik's cooking is, he was full of praises for her, saying that she likes to cook abalone, but they will only have it once in a long while, because it takes a long time to prepare.

Ronald was asked about the suggestions that his rumoured girlfriend Charlene Choi from the pop duo Twins was interested in coming onto the show, but Ronald replied that he has no intention of inviting her because you cannot split up Twins, but if they both come on, they would be depriving other pretty girls of the chance to go onto the show.

Yoyo Mung and Toby Leung were invited to a beauty event yesterday and Toby modelled some new cosmetics for the sponsors. Yoyo attended wearing a long sleeved top and hot pants, showing off her long slim legs. Asked about recent reports that have broken in a magazine that Kenix Kwok and Hacken Lee had a secret affair lasting four years, Yoyo, who worked with Kenix's husband Frankie Lam on "Forensic Heroes" says that she has not read the report and she feels that these reports are pointless and if she was on the cover, she would not be interested in buying it as she would just check to see if the photos were pretty. Yoyo suggests that people should save the money that they spend on these magazines and donate it to charity instead.

Whilst Toby was being made up, she pulled some funny faces and the press were ready to joke with her.
